Description of content: Ms. Hale recounts her memories as a student at the University of Colorado - Boulder. She discusses the discrimination against her as an African American woman and the early Civil Rights Movement, including receiving low grades despite outstanding work, being kept out of malt shops, and an early visit by James Farmer to Boulder in the 1940s. Of particular interest is her story of participation in a 1943 lunch counter sit-in.
