Glenarm Reading Club, originally a literary discussion group in Denver that sponsored a wide range of cultural activities, including musical presentations and visiting speakers. Gillete was the manager and treasurer of the Glenarm Reading Club and it was active from 1884- 1893. A.W. Gillette, along with Myron W. Reed, pastor
of the First Presbyterian Church, Miss L.H. Clark, Anthony Sneve, S. W. Carpenter, and J.F. Vaille, founded the Glenarm Reading Club of Denver in 1884. The Club had as many as 300 members, and it sponsored a wide range of cultural activities. It brought recognized performers to Denver, including Julia Ward Howe,
General Lew Wallace, L.B. Sperry, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Sobrino, the New York Philharmonic Club, Miss. Laura Dainty, Albion W. Tourgee, the Rev. F.W. Gunsaulus and the Mendelssohn Quintette Concert Company of Boston.
