Organized in 1905, the company was jointly owned by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Company, the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railroad Company, the Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western Railway Company, and the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexican Railway Company. The Houston Belt and Terminal Railway provided terminal facilities and interchange connections for a number of railroad lines in Houston, Texas.
