Dry plate glass negative depicting the buildings located at the construction site for the East Portal of the Moffat Tunnel in Gilpin County, Colorado during winter, circa 1922-1923. The buildings housed the workers and foremen who worked to build the tunnel. The tunnel itself is visible at the end of the railroad tracks as they enter the mountainside. The photo was taken by either Herman Frederick Hall (1893-1984) or his one of his brothers, Herbert Harold Hall (1893-1961) or Edmeaux Homer Hall (b. 1897). The Hall family was a mixed-race family of African-American descent who lived at 2350 Glenarm Place in Denver.
