The Colorado and Northwestern Railway Company which operated lines in Boulder County, with stations in Boulder, Ward, and Eldora was organized in 1897. In 1904, it was reorganized as the Colorado and Northwestern Railroad Company. A road was completed from Boulder to Ward in 1898, and from Ward to Eldora and to Sunset in 1906. The Colorado and Northwestern was reorganized again in1908 as the Denver, Boulder and Western.
