Incorporated 10 September 1904, the Denver and Interurban Railroad Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Colorado and Southern Railway Company, built and operated a line between Denver and Boulder, via Louisville Junction. The Denver & Interurban used the Denver Tramway's tracks from the city limits to the Denver central loop. The Interurban defaulted on its bonds in 1918, and operated under a receivership until 1920. A major accident on 6 September 1920 was a severe blow to the company and it continued operations until 15 December 1926. The tracks were removed in 1927.
