An oval-shaped, gold-colored Roman Catholic religious medallion that has a Latin inscription on the reverse and the following on the obverse: "N.S.D. Guadalupe, De Mexico, A. 1805". It is attached to a buckskin thong covered with beads. Note: The medallion component of this artifact was stolen while on exhibit in a temporary exhibit called "Scope of History" when the museum was located in the State Museum building on Sherman Street from 1916-1976. A portion of the beaded buckskin thong was all that remained after the theft. Those four beads are identified as drawn-glass Venetian beads of Cornaline d'Aleppo style. They have a cylindrical disk shape and are red with white centers.
