Dry plate glass negative depicting an unidentified cook inside what is likely the kitchen of Ben Hall & Son, a restaurant in Sparta, Illinois that was owned by relatives of the Hall family of Denver, Colorado. The photo was taken in July 1919 by either Herman Frederick Hall (1893-1984) or his one of his brothers, Herbert Harold Hall (1893-1961) or Edmeaux Homer Hall (b. 1897). The Hall family was a mixed-race family of African-American descent who lived at 2350 Glenarm Place in Denver. The photo has a damaged emulsion and is in fragile condition.
