Louie Powell French came to Denver from New York in 1894. He worked for a time as a reporter for The Colorado Sun, and as a secretary to Mayor W.W. Smith of Denver. He served as assistant secretary of the Denver Chamber of Commerce from 1896 to 1905. He also worked as the city passenger agent for the Union Pacific Railroad, and as secretary of the Denver Passenger Association. A Denver resident and auditor of the Albany Hotel, French helped to organize the New York Society of Colorado in 1906. French was a charter member of the New York Society of Denver and
served as its secretary. He died in Denver on July 21, 1933.
