General Note: Part of the CWA Pioneer Interviews Collection. Consists of an interview of William Valiant, an early day resident of La Plata County, Colorado. Born in Texas in 1843, Valiant came to the San Juan region of Colorado in 1875, where he freighted and prospected. Much of this document consists of his encounters with both Comanche and Ute Indians, as well as a brief description of a group of African American soldiers in a saloon in Animas City, Colorado.
