The Chicosa Canon Railroad was organized in 1889 by C.F. Meek and others who were active in the management of the Denver, Texas and Ft. Worth Railroad. The four miles of track ran from Chicosa to Forbes, and up Chiesa Creek, and carried coal from mines to the main line of the railroad. The Chicosa Canon
Railroad was absorbed by the Union Pacific Denver and Gulf in 1890, which became the Colorado and Southern Railway in
1898-1899.
