Contains biographical material, scrapbooks of correspondence, and newspaper clippings related to Julius C. Gunter. Born in 1858 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Gunter graduated from the University of Virginia in 1879. Moving to Colorado shortly after being admitted to the Bar, Gunter opened a legal practice in Trinidad, and by 1904 Gunter had been elected to the Colorado Supreme Court. In 1917 he was elected governor of Colorado, and served until 1918. Gunter died in Denver in 1940.
