Three-sided structure made of hand-hewn ponderosa pine planks has cross beam roof supports and and two vertical supports at the open front side. Horizontal planks are joined to the vertical beams with mortice-and-tenon notchings. Walls of structure at back are supported at corner with half-dovetail fittings. Left wall has opening that appears to have been a window. Right side wall has opening that might have been a door or that might have been cut out to accommodate the house that was built over the plank structure.
, Original location of the house was Auraria, San Luis Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets (later 1249 Tenth Street). Donated by Charles E. Stanton and May Bonfils Stanton. See attached (original in HC accession file) for more information.
